This horse, on a farm along Vandorf Sideroad, west of Hwy 48, north of the city, was very content to pose for me while I snapped away. Of the four horses milling around the fence, it was the only one that didn’t seem to shy away from the electrified cord that ran along the top of the fence. He was very happy when I patted his nose, too.

Cows and Barn
Five exposures at 0.7ev, tonemapped to achieve the surreal effect and colours I talked about in yesterday’s post. This is a farm northeast of Toronto.
Three Little Ducks Went Out to Play
My three-year-old daughter has been singing this song a lot recently: ‘Three little ducks went out to play, over the hill and far away. The momma duck said ‘quack, quack, quack’ and only two little ducks came back.’ Kinda morbid, when you think of it. Anyway, seeing these three little ducklings at Richmond Green, in Richmond Hill, Ontario, reminded me of that song.
In the Blink of a Horse’s Eye
From the archives, a shot from last year.
Robin
A robin basks in the warm light of the setting sun.
Bird and Bokeh
I’m not up on my bird species, so if you know what this is please leave a comment.
Ladybug
My English aunt, who was visiting last summer when I took this picture, calls this insect a ladybird. Sounds a bit graceful and elegant to me, and insects are, in my mind, neither. So I sent her home with a print and the word ladybug written on the back.
Lioness
A lioness rests atop rocks at the Toronto Zoo.
Three Deer
Three white-tailed deer take a keen interest in me as I photograph them on the grounds of the David Dunlap Observatory, in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Sonic Goose
When I was about 16, my friend Jeff and I were hanging out on the street one day when I said something about a bird in the sky. Jeff misunderstood me and thought I had said, ‘Look at that sonic goose go!’ (Or words to that effect. Sixteen was a long time ago.) For some reason this picture reminds me of that day.
