Giddyup
A member of the Toronto Police Service rides his horse along Queen’s Quay, just east of Yonge Street, in Toronto. Normally mounted officers travel in pairs. Seeing one on his own is unusual.
Touchdown
A Canada Goose lands in the water of Fairy Lake, in Newmarket, Ontario.
One Up Two Down
Canada geese fly over Lake Ontario.
Gear and Flaps Down
I was going through my archives the other day and came across this shot from last winter. It’s one of my favourites.
You Shoulda Seen the One That Got Away
A trumpeter swan tells the story of the fish that got away: ‘It was this big!’ Trumpeter swans are being reintroduced to Ontario. This one was spotted at the foot of York Street, near Harbourfront.
X Marks the Spot
How these birds can even swim in lake water in winter is beyond me. They certainly have less fat on their little legs than I do, and yet I wouldn’t even be able to dip a toe in the water for more than five seconds! Shot at Harbourfront, at the foot of York Street.
Pigeon in Flight
While taking pictures at Harbourfront one lunch hour, several pigeons started flying right past me. I managed to capture this one as he swept past about two feet from me.
